Before scuba gear ever existed, the only way to explore the depths of the ocean was by holding one’s breath. Free diving without oxygen tanks is the ultimate expression of freedom and the pinnacle test of lung strength. As a nod to the fortitude of free divers, we named this model the Iron Lung. When designing, we wanted to embody the rawness of free diving by giving it a high lume dial with minimal markings. Oversized hands finished with Swiss Super-LumiNova make reading this watch with just a glance, totally effortless. Keeping the seconds separate from the hour and minute hands by utilizing a sub seconds ensures there are no mistakes reading the dive bezel while 30 feet under. Finished with an anti-glare curved sapphire crystal, the Iron Lung is the ultimate expression of diving freedom.
Purpose Built Design
The Iron Lung features an unconventional 3 hand design with a sub second. The decision to take the seconds hand from the main hand stack was made to reduce the risk of mistaking the seconds hand for the minute hand when diving. By keeping the seconds hand separate, it’s impossible to confuse it with the minutes hand. Using oversized hands further enhances this watch’s readability. We wanted to make this watch readable with just one glance, because when your 30 ft under and running out of oxygen, every second counts. We did this by removing any distractions from the dial, keeping only the necessary hour markers and giving it a very light sand texture that reduces glare. The 120 click uni-directional bezel that sits atop the full stainless-steel case uses a single lume pip to track your dives. A double locking dive clasp ensures your watch never leaves your wrist involuntarily. A screw down crown and thick curved sapphire glass provides this watch with up to 200 meters of water resistance, making it an essential accessory for your next free dive.
